You could get a Winter Fuel Payment for winter 2024 to 2025 if you were born before 23 September 1958.
The Winter Fuel payment is now means-tested.
You may be eligible if you or your partner are currently in receipt of any of the following benefits:
- Pension Credit
- Income Support
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
- Child Tax Credit
- Working Tax Credit
- Universal Credit
How to claim
If you are eligible for the Winter Fuel Payment, you shouldn't need to make a claim as you should receive your payment automatically.
If you don't receive a letter about the Winter Fuel Payment in October or November, but you think you are eligible, you should contact the Winter Fuel Payment Centre.

How much you'll get
The Winter Fuel Payment varies according to your circumstances. If eligible, you will receive either £200 or £300.
