Housing Options

Body

Your housing options vary so we examine them to help you decide which best suit your circumstances.

In later life, where you choose to live may be down to choice or necessity. It may be that you would prefer to stay at home and live as independently as possible or move in with your family.

Sheltered housing may give you that independence with the security of on-site support available. Otherwise, if you need personal care then residential and nursing homes may be the best option for you.

If you are not already a tenant of the likes of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) or housing association, social housing may be an option too. This option may be considered if you have an immediate need for accommodation due to your previous property being unfit or you have been made homeless.

If you have no home or are at risk of losing your home yous should seek help at your local Housing Executive Office. They may offer advice, assistance, temporary or permanent accommodation.

The choice is yours

Before you make any decision regarding your housing options, gather as much information as possible and seek advice from people you trust.
